Major giving

For more than 150 years, Anglicare Southern Queensland has been supporting people through life’s toughest moments. A major gift of $10,000 or more can make a profound and lasting impact, funding essential services and innovative projects that help vulnerable Queenslanders now and into the future.

Government funding supports our core services, but we rely on the generosity of donors like you to extend our reach, enhance our programs, and create new opportunities for those who need them most.

What is a major gift?

A major gift is a donation of $10,000 or more that provides critical funding where government support falls short. These contributions allow us to:

  • Expand essential services for children in foster care, people experiencing homelessness, and those in need of aged care or counselling
  • Fund new capital projects to increase our capacity and improve the quality of care we offer
  • Support innovation and best practice, ensuring we continue to deliver the most effective programs for our communities.

Your major gift will create a direct and lasting impact on people’s lives, giving them the stability, care, and support they need to thrive. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

How your major gift helps

Your generosity will support people across our key services, including:

  • Women and families facing homelessness
  • Young people aged 16-25 experiencing or at risk of homelessness
  • Children in foster care and their dedicated carers
  • Individuals and families accessing counselling and wellbeing support
  • Older Australians in residential aged care or receiving in-home support
  • Beyond day-to-day support, major gifts enable long-term projects that strengthen communities for generations to come.

Transformational projects made possible by major gifts

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’ve been able to bring these life-changing projects to reality.

Women’s and Families Homelessness Service

In 2015, we completed the $6.4 million Women’s and Families Homelessness Project in Brisbane’s west. With funds raised through the Home Away from Homelessness campaign, we expanded our accommodation capacity to support 24 women at any time, giving them a safe place to rebuild their lives.

Amanda Flyn Play and Grow Centre

Opened in 2019, this dedicated centre at our Women’s and Families Homelessness Service provides a nurturing space for young mothers to participate in workshops while their children engage in safe, structured play. This was made possible through the generosity of Queenslanders, like you.

Domestic Violence Fundraising Project

Through the Home of Dreams initiative, we raised $1 million to support those affected by domestic violence. This funding provided:

  • Safe accommodation for children in care
  • Specialist housing for women escaping violence
  • Homelessness services for young people
  • Mental health and counselling support for survivors.

Beenleigh Youth Accommodation Project

We are currently raising $14 million to build and fit out 30 apartments that will provide stable accommodation for up to 42 young people experiencing homelessness in southeast Queensland. This project will be a lifeline for vulnerable youth, giving them a safe place to stay while accessing education, employment, and mental health support.

Transparency and trust

As a not-for-profit organisation, we ensure that funds go directly to supporting the most vulnerable people in our community. Your generosity helps us deliver essential programs that create lasting change.
